We invite any teacher, administrator, reading specialist, or college education major to join.
Benefits of Joining
There are several benefits to becoming a member of our organization. Our members are close friends and we have a great
time when we get together. Of course we also have a common interest, educating students in literacy! Your membership
is joint membership with the Diamond State Reading Association (DSRA). As a DSRA member you recieve these benifits:
CONFERENCES: Opportunities to hear nationally noted authors and educators in the
field of reading plus sessions devoted to theory & practical techniques. Member discount
DSRA READER: A tri-yearly publication to keep members informed of pertinent events,
research findings, book reviews, evaluation of educational materials, innovative techniques, local council news & more.
AUTHOR-ILLLUSTRATOR PROGRAM: Presentation by creators
of children’s literature. Member discount
MINI-GRANTS: Monetary awards to individual teachers to implement original and worthwhile
classroom ideas.
ANNUAL SPRING BANQUET: A yearly dinner meeting featuring noted speaker.
COMMUNITY SERVICE: Participates in DSRA’s outreach to Delaware Children in
such programs as Be an Angel and Books in a Bag, which provide reading materials to a wide number of
children in the state.
LEGISLATIVE INPUT: A unified voice in the interest of better reading for all.
DELAWARE DIAMONDS: A program which encourages students to read quality literature
by having them vote for their favorite book on the Delaware Diamond’s list.
LENDING LIBRARY: Professional books and videos are available for checkout to membership.
